Collect industry updates with an X List

Read posts from sources you trust beside your team’s notes. A public X List puts several accounts in one timeline.

Why use this pattern?

Your team reads a few accounts on X for its research. Its notes live in Confluence.

An Embedded List can show recent posts from those accounts next to your notes.

Live example

Here is a sample page for research. A team that builds an app for Confluence made it. They use it to keep up with news from Atlassian. The team wrote the text. The List comes from X Connector and works on this page.

Atlassian product news: research notes

Sources

Our public X List has the main accounts from Atlassian, such as @Confluence. They share news first, so we start there.

Latest posts from the List

Posts from every account in the List, newest first.

We don't have a way to export this macro.

What we learned

We last read the List on .

  • Many posts are about AI and tasks that run on their own in Confluence. Our app runs page tasks too, so they may do the same job.

  • Open each post on X before you quote it. The List shows only new posts.

What we check next

  1. Product: check how Confluence Automation and the rules in our app differ.

  2. Research: read the List again before we plan the next release.

Try it: select a post in the List. It opens on X in a new tab.

Before you start

  • You can edit this page.

  • You have a public X List URL. Create or choose the List on X.

  • Ask your admin to connect the X API key and check credits.

Build the page

  1. Choose the accounts to include in a public List on X. Manage the List’s members there.

  2. Create a research page. Name the sources you chose and why you chose them.

  3. Follow Embed an X List. Paste its public URL into Item to share.

  4. Try 10 posts and 400 px for Widget height. These are example settings. Check the preview.

  5. Add your team’s notes below the timeline. Include the date. Then publish or update a regular page.

Check before sharing

Check that the List is public and its posts load. The app shows the List. It does not keep a full record of past posts or search for keywords. Check the source posts before you make a decision.
