How to build a noticeboard in Confluence

Three options, and which one fits your plan

Confluence has no dedicated noticeboard feature. You have three practical options: blog posts, Company Hub if you are on Premium or Enterprise, or a Marketplace app that gives you a board where posts carry end dates. Which one fits depends on your plan, on who needs to post, and on whether anyone will keep the board tidy.

🟦 Option 1: Confluence blog posts

Create a space for company updates and have people publish blog posts there.

Works when you need something today, on any plan, with nothing to install.

Breaks down as the feed grows. Blog posts are ordered by date and nothing else. There is no category to filter by and no end date, so last quarter's parking notice sits in the archive looking as current as this morning's. Someone has to clear it out by hand, and often nobody does. People scroll, stop finding what they came for, and stop opening the page.

🟨 Option 2: Company Hub (Premium and Enterprise only)

Company Hub is a built-in Confluence Cloud feature: one company-wide landing page for announcements, news and curated links.

Works when you are already on Premium or Enterprise and you want a single front door that a small group of admins curates.

Breaks down on Standard and Free, where Company Hub is not available at all. It is also one-way by design. Editing is gated to admins and delegated editors, so employees read the page rather than post to it. If you need people across the company to add events, job openings or classifieds themselves, this is not that surface.

🟩 Option 3: a board where posts close on their own

Team Hub for Confluence does this. It is an independent app by eXtensi, not Atlassian's Company Hub.

Every post carries an end date. When the date passes, the post closes as Expired and leaves the current board, so what the board shows is what is still live. A publisher can keep a post past its date, reopen it with new dates, or schedule it to go live later, from 24 minutes to 24 months ahead.

How to set it up

  1. A Confluence admin installs Team Hub from the Atlassian Marketplace. It runs on Confluence Cloud only.

  2. The admin names the app's moderators and admins.

  3. Open the board and create a post. Pick one of 59 ready-to-use categories in 10 groups, from announcements and events to jobs and classifieds. The category gives the post the fields it needs, and a live preview shows the card before you publish. Set the end date here.

  4. To put a specific post in front of people on a page they already read, insert the Team Hub macro on that Confluence page and point it at the post. The macro renders that one post as a live card and follows the page's light or dark theme. Readers react and mark themselves Going or Interested on the card, where the post's settings allow.

  5. Tell people they can report anything off in one click. Reports land in a queue that the moderators you named work through.

Works when you want employees posting, and you do not want to tidy the board by hand.

Breaks down in four cases worth knowing before you plan a rollout. There is one board for the site, not one per space or team. Categories come as Team Hub ships them, so admin editing of the category forms is not available yet. Moderation is done by people after publication: there is no automatic filtering and no pre-publication approval. And it is a board for time-bound posts, so it does not replace your Confluence wiki for durable pages.

❓ Common questions

Can I make a noticeboard on a normal Confluence page?

Yes, with a page and macros, but you are assembling the filtering and the cleanup yourself. It holds for a handful of notices and stops holding at a few dozen.

What is the difference between a noticeboard and Company Hub?

Direction. Company Hub is an admin-published front door that employees read. A noticeboard is a place employees post to. They answer different questions and sites on Premium sometimes run both.

How do I stop old notices piling up?

Give every post an end date when you publish it. The post then closes itself as Expired and leaves the current board. Closed posts are deleted after 180 days, and a deleted post can be restored to drafts for 30 days before it is removed for good.

Can we have a separate board per team?

Not today. Team Hub gives the site one board, narrowed by the category tree and by search, filters and sorting rather than by separate boards.

Does it work on Confluence Data Center?

No. Team Hub runs on Confluence Cloud only.
